KSBL has a strong track record of delivering high-quality vessels to both local and international clients and contributes significantly to the growth of Bangladesh’s maritime sector.
Karnafuly Ship Builders Limited (KSBL) established in Chittagong, the Port City of Bangladesh in 1994 and had since then built around 1,200 ships and repaired around 800 ships in its three shipyards set up on 150 acres of land with total employee size of 10,000 people. A team of skilled professionals with us comprising of experienced engineers, technicians, and craftsmen, who possess the expertise and proficiency to execute complex projects with precision and diligence.
Ships built by KSBL include inland, coastal and seagoing Ships and Dredgers of various types and sizes, Cutter Suction Dredgers (CSD), Pontoon Mounted Grab Dredger, Hopper Dredger, Dredge-Material Carrying Barge, Split type Hopper Dredger, Accommodation Boat, Crane Boat, Tug Boat, House Boat, Work Boat, Mooring Boat, Buoy Tender Vessel, Passenger Vessel, Barge, Pilot Vessel, Tanker, Ferry, Cruise Ship, Modern Coastal passengerr Ship, Cabin Cruiser cum Inspection Boat, Survey and Research Vessel etc. for both Government and Private Owners, classed by IACS Member Classification Societies including BV, LR, GL, ABS, R.I.N.A and DNV etc.
KSBL now stands, in terms of the number of Dredger manufacture as the highest in Asia and one of 2nd largest highest in the world. KSBL has built six jetties, each one 160m in length.
Karnafuly Dry Dock Limited (KDDL), the first private Dry dock in Bangladesh in Chittagong stands as a beacon of maritime infrastructure excellence, embodying advanced capabilities and strategic importance within the region with a colossal capacity of 150,000 dwt (deadweight tonnage). The only World Bank financed Project in the maritime field for the Private Sector of Bangladesh of about 100 Million US Dollar is with KDDL, which shows the credibility of KSBL in the eyes of international Donor Agencies.
The Special Economic Zone (SEZ) built by KDDL includes three Container ports and a Dry dock with a capacity of 150,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT). Each container port is expected to handle 25,000-30,000 Twenty- foot equivalent Units (TEUs). One Container terminal has already been constructed and is now running and two others are under construction. SEZ will be fully operational in 2025.
KSBL has built several jetties, one of 435 m length, one of 550 m length and the other of 570 m length, with 11.5 m draft enabling altogether docking and handling at a time, of 6 X 250 m ships or equivalent of 11 m draft. More than 100 ocean going ships have been berthed and handled in these jetties in the last two years.
